With a new reflective technology that looks like ordinary black fabric, Soft Touch AB combines safety and design in a completely new way. The innovation makes it possible to create products with full reflective performance without compromising on aesthetics – paving the way for greater visibility in both everyday life and professional use.
Soft Touch AB has developed a new range of ski gloves and mittens featuring reflective material integrated across the entire back of the hand. What makes the solution unique is that the reflective areas are completely black in their base appearance – they don’t look like traditional reflectors, yet they deliver full reflectivity when illuminated.
The concept grew from an understanding of user behavior, where some people avoid reflective details for aesthetic reasons, even though they serve an important safety function. By making the reflective material visually discreet, the likelihood increases that more users will choose products with reflectors – without compromising on style. The result is a functional product that combines safety and fashion in perfect balance.

This development work is a natural extension of Soft Touch AB’s core business within professional work gloves. The black reflective technology opens up the opportunity to implement the same solution in gloves designed for occupational use, particularly for people working near traffic or in low-visibility conditions during the winter months. Integrating reflective materials into everyday and durable gloves could ultimately improve workplace safety where visibility is critical.
Soft Touch is now exploring additional applications and sees great potential to expand the technology to more product categories where durability, aesthetics, and safety meet.
"We see great potential in the black reflective technology – both for our own products and in collaboration with other partners. We welcome anyone interested in discussing ideas or developing new glove solutions together with us, whether it’s about black reflectors or other innovative materials" says Michael Cederkvist, CEO of Soft Touch AB.
